Explore two centuries of RNLI lifeboat history, heroic rescues, and the enduring tradition of saving lives at sea.
On the Lincolnshire coast, Mablethorpe has had an RNLI lifeboat since 1883, when it replaced the station at Theddlethorpe. After closing in 1920, an inshore station was re-established in 1965; it now runs an Atlantic 85 and a D-class across the beach.
The RNLI opened a station at Mablethorpe in 1883, replacing nearby Theddlethorpe (whose origins lay with the Lincolnshire Coast Shipwreck Association). It closed in 1920, and an inshore lifeboat station was re-established in May 1965.
