From Coble Landing on Filey’s seafront, a lifeboat has served since 1804, with the RNLI’s predecessor taking over in 1852. Sitting between Scarborough and Bridlington on the Yorkshire coast, Filey now runs an Atlantic 85 and a D-class inshore lifeboat, launched across the beach by tractor.
A lifeboat was established at Filey by a local committee in 1804; management passed to the RNIPLS in 1852, which became the RNLI two years later. The station has long been associated with Filey’s distinctive fishing cobles.
