Burnham on Crouch Lifeboat Station

Established in 1966, Burnham-on-Crouch answers calls along the seventeen navigable miles of the River Crouch and out to the North Sea at Holliwell Point — to fishermen, commercial traffic and the area’s many leisure sailors. Originally summer-only, it became a year-round station in 1987, and is one of only a handful to keep its lifeboats in floating boathouses. As a modern inshore station its honours are service awards rather than gallantry medals.

The station is at Burnham Yacht Harbour off Foundry Lane, with the lifeboats kept afloat in floating boathouses. Visits are generally by arrangement.

Burnham operates a B-class (Atlantic 85), Tony and Robert Britt (B-849, on station since 2011), and a D-class (IB1), David and Barbara Chapman (D-807, since 2017).
